Booking & receiving your car hire voucher:
Ordering your rental car is simple, just enter your car hire pick up & drop off locations, your dates and click the "Click to Quote" button. You will be shown several groups of cars all you have to do is select from the tabs which hire car group you are interested in. From here you will be shown all hire cars in that group along with the price for your rental period in GBP£. You can also select to change the currency to whichever suits you best. . When you finally select the car you are interested in renting you will be then shown several options to the rental such as extra (baby seats, roofracks. cancellation cover etc..), just select any you require and continue. You will then be required to enter your own details such as address, flight number if required etc.. and finally you will be asked to enter your credit card details to pay securely online. You will receive your car rental voucher via email immediately with your unique booking reference number and all other booking details. If your car hire start date is sooner than this then don't worry we will be in touch via telephone to arrange safe and speedy receipt of your rental voucher. When you receive your voucher it will give full details of which fleet provider has been used and exact details of how and where to find their desk, if airport pick up then this will be in the airport arrivals hall.
Driving in Ireland
Driving is on the left. The minimum age of a driver is 17 years. Children must be at least 12 years of age to sit in the front seat (unless the seat is equipped with a child restraint). The use of seat belts is compulsory for front-seat passengers. The legal blood alcohol limit is 100 mg. Generally, speed limits are as follows: 48 kph (30 mph) in built-up areas, 96 kph (60 mph) outside built-up areas, and 112 kph (70 mph) on expressways. Cars towing a trailer are limited to 80 kph (50 mph) on all roads.
Horns cannot be used between 11:30pm and 7am. It's illegal to use fog lights except in fog or falling snow.
Parking
Except where there are yellow lines on the road and except within a bus stop area, any restrictions you encounter are lifted after 6pm. Penalties for dangerous parking are stiff. Irish Parking metres are checked from 8am to 6.30pm from Monday through Saturday; maximum parking time is 2 hours. Fines may be collected on the spot for parking violations. Cork and Limerick employ the parking disc system in their central areas. A disc allows for one to three hours of parking.
Fuel
Stations are usually open from 7.30am to 10pm, but some stay open 24 hours. Credit cards are accepted. Leaded super petrol has an octane rating of 98; the octane rating of unleaded super is 95.
Tolls
There's a thirty-minute car ferry across the River Shannon between Tarbert in Co. Kerry to Killimer in Co. Clare. The ferry leaves Killimer every hour on the hour and Tarbert every hour on the half-hour. The cost per car is ¬12.50 one way; foot passengers pay ¬3. Contact Shannon Ferry Ltd.
